Jump pegs to remove them -- finish with just one in the centre.
About Peg Solitaire
A centuries-old solo brain-teaser. The board starts full except the middle. Jump any peg over a neighbour into an empty hole and the jumped peg is removed. The goal is to clear the whole board down to a single peg -- ideally the last one sitting dead centre. Easy to grasp, genuinely hard to perfect. Free to play in your browser — no download, no sign-up.
How to Play
Jump one peg over an adjacent peg into an empty hole, straight (no diagonals). The jumped-over peg is removed. Clear the board down to one peg -- the true master finishes with it in the centre.
Tips & Strategy
Work toward the centre, not away from it -- pegs stranded on the arms of the cross are the hardest to clear.
Don't make isolated jumps just because you can; each move should set up the next. Think two or three jumps ahead.
Keep the board roughly symmetric for as long as possible -- it keeps your options open.
Undo is there for a reason: the last five pegs are where good games fall apart, so experiment before committing.
