Form mills of three to capture the CPU's men in this medieval classic.
About Nine Men's Morris
A strategy game older than chess, scratched into cloister benches across medieval Europe. Each side places nine men on the board's 24 points, then slides them along the lines. Line up three of yours — a mill — and you remove an enemy man. Reduce the CPU to two men (or trap it with no moves) and the board is yours. Free to play in your browser — no download, no sign-up.
How to Play
Phase 1: take turns placing your 9 men on empty points. Phase 2: slide men along lines to adjacent points. Three in a line = a mill = remove a CPU man. Down to 3 men you may fly anywhere. Reduce the CPU to 2 men to win.
Tips & Strategy
In the placing phase, don't rush your first mill — build crossings. A man on a T-junction joins more potential mills than one in a corner.
The deadliest structure is the swinging mill: two mills sharing a point, so one man shuttles back and forth re-forming a mill every turn. Build toward it, and break the CPU's before it closes.
When you remove a man, take one that wrecks a shape — a piece one move from a mill — not just any piece.
Blockading wins games too: a CPU with men but no legal moves loses on the spot. Squeeze its pieces against the edge in the moving phase.
