About this game
A tidy little patience that keeps your mental arithmetic ticking along. Nine cards are laid face up. Remove any two whose values add up to eleven, counting Aces as one and number cards at face value, and fresh cards from the deck drop into the empty spaces. Picture cards can’t make eleven, so they leave only as a set: a Jack, a Queen and a King together. Keep pairing and clearing until the deck runs dry. Get rid of all fifty-two cards to win; run out of pairs first and the deal wins instead. Free to play in your browser, with no download and no sign-up.
Family tips
Picture cards are the real danger, because they clog spaces until you hold all three. When you have a choice of pairs, pick the one that leaves the fewest spaces filled with lone Jacks, Queens or Kings.
If you have two possible pairs, think about the cards still to come. Pairs like 5 and 6 are less common than combinations like 9 and 2, so take the rarer one while you can.
Count the picture cards that have already gone. If all four Queens are cleared, for instance, any remaining Jacks and Kings can never leave, so earlier choices matter more than they seem.
