Tap the numbers in order as fast as you can, while staring at the middle of the grid.
Quick start
Tap 1, 2, 3 and so on in order. The timer starts on your first tap. Each wrong tap adds one second to your time. Finish the grid to move on: 3×3, 4×4, 5×5, then the red and blue board. On the red and blue board, alternate: red 1, blue 12, red 2, blue 11, and so on.

About this game
A speed-reading drill dressed up as a race. A grid of shuffled numbers appears, and you tap them from 1 upwards as quickly as you can. The clever bit, known as the Schulte method, is to stare steadily at the middle dot and spot the numbers with your side vision, which trains your eyes to take in more at once. You begin on a three-by-three, move to four and five, then meet the red-and-blue variant, where you alternate counting red numbers up and blue numbers down. Each size keeps its own best time. Family tips
Resist the urge to hunt with your eyes. Keep looking at the middle and let the next number pop out at you; it feels slower at first, but after a few rounds your field of view widens noticeably and your times drop.
Since each wrong tap adds a full second, a careful tap almost always beats a hasty one. Once you find a number, glance for the one after it before your finger lands, so your eyes are always a step ahead of your hand.
On the red and blue board you’re tracking two counts at once, so say the pair quietly: red three, blue ten. It keeps you from tapping the right number in the wrong colour, which costs the same second as any other slip.
